2020 Engagement Guides

Using a Co-Design process, Engagement Guides engage with scholars to create two workshops on Co-Design and Restorative Practices  to help students and educators develop skills and expertise in these areas.

YEAR FINALIST

Shannon Finnegan is an alternative educator, teacher leader, and activist who teaches social studies within the Hopkins Alternative Program (HAP) at Hopkins High School. Shannon has facilitated professional development for teachers around authentic assessment and Restorative Justice, and currently teaches a Restorative Justice course which trains youth leaders. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Celebrate Me Week, a non-profit summer camp for youth that focuses on building healthy self-esteem and positive peer relationships.

Qorsho Hassan

OF THE YEAR

Qorsho Hassan is a bilingual educator, researcher, and community organizer. She is a fourth grade teacher for ISD 196 (Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan). She is also the artist and co-author behind the exhibit and book “Urur Dhex-Dhexaad Ah: Community In-Between,” which presents color portraits, first-person video stories, and written narratives of Somali-Americans from Columbus, Ohio.
